Remote computer support in Clearwater, from a tech you actually called
A lot of computer problems don't need a house call. They need a person who knows what they're doing to look at your screen. I connect to your computer from my workstation in Clearwater, and fix it. Most of the work runs quietly in the background — what you see is the result — and you never have to unplug a thing.
FREE REMOTE DIAGNOSIS · QUOTED BEFORE ANY WORK · NO FIX, NO FEE
Section A · All of Tampa Bay
Same local tech, no drive time.
I'm Jeff Hamilton, owner of Computer Medic Repair & Service LLC in Clearwater. Most of what I fix — slow computers, pop-ups, email that stopped working, updates that won't install, software that crashes — gets fixed in software, not with a screwdriver. Remote support lets me do that work without either of us waiting on an appointment window.
Because there's no driving involved, remote support covers all of Tampa Bay: Clearwater, Largo, Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, St. Petersburg, and across the bridge in Tampa too. If it turns out the problem is hardware, house calls are still the default anywhere in Pinellas County.
Section B · Before you let anyone connect
How to tell me from a scammer.
"Let me connect to your computer" is also how tech-support scams work, so here's the honest version of how to tell the difference. The rule is simple: only let someone connect when you reached out to them first, at a number you looked up yourself.
What I will never do
Call, text, or email you out of the blue about a problem
Put a warning or phone number on your screen
Ask for gift cards, crypto, or a wire transfer
Ask you to read me your banking passwords
Connect without your go-ahead for that session
What you can always do
Text or call 727-239-6797 yourself to confirm it's me
Get a plain-English rundown of what I did
Ask what I'm doing at any point
End the session whenever you want
Have the support software removed afterward
If someone else already got into your computer — a pop-up told you to call a number, or a "Microsoft" caller took control of your screen — turn the computer off, call your bank if you gave them card details, and then text me. That cleanup is usually a virus & malware removal job, and I'll check what they left behind.
Section C · What works remotely
What I can fix from here — and what needs a visit.
Usually fixed remotely
Slow computer, startup clutter, tune-ups
Pop-ups, browser hijacks, adware
Email and Outlook / Microsoft 365 problems
Windows, macOS, and Linux updates that fail or stall
Software installs, crashes, and error messages
Backup and antivirus setup (Malwarebytes Premium)
"How do I…" questions and settings you can't find
Needs a house call
Won't turn on, or won't start up
No internet connection on that computer
Cracked screen, dead keys, liquid spills
Failing drives and data recovery
Ransomware (the machine should be offline)
Wi-Fi and network equipment
Not sure which side your problem is on? Text me what it's doing. If I can't fix it remotely I'll say so up front, and we'll set up a house call instead.
Section D · How a session works
Four steps, and you're in charge of all of them.
Step 01 · You reach out
Text me — or call (always you first)
Text 727-239-6797 with what's going on — texting is best, since I can reply between jobs and send the link right back. Most of the time I can tell from the description whether it's a remote job. If it isn't, you'll hear that before anything else happens.
Step 02 · I send the link
A one-time install link, by text (Windows, Mac, or Linux)
I text you a link to the Computer Medic support agent — a small, signed program that connects your computer to my console over an encrypted connection. It installs in under 30 seconds — usually about 10 — and I'm on the other end of the text if anything looks unfamiliar.
Step 03 · Diagnosis and quote
I diagnose, you approve (nothing happens without your OK)
Once you approve the session, I find the problem and tell you what it'll take before I start the work. Diagnosis is free, and you see the quote before anything is fixed. If you'd rather not go ahead, you owe nothing.
Step 04 · Done
Fixed, explained, disconnected (software removed unless you keep it)
I tell you what was wrong and what I did, in plain English. Then the session ends and, for a one-time job, the support software comes off. If you'd like me to keep that computer patched and watched for you, that's the managed plan.

Section F · Common questions
What customers usually ask.
FAQ 01
Is it safe to let someone connect to my computer?
With someone you contacted, yes — that's the whole rule. Scammers reach you first: a pop-up, a cold call, an email saying your computer has a problem. I never do any of that. A session only happens after you text or call me at 727-239-6797, I can't see your screen without your go-ahead for that session, and you can end it any time.
FAQ 02
Do I need to be at the computer during the session?
For the start, yes — you approve the connection and tell me what's wrong. After that, most of the work happens in the background — there isn't much to see until it's done, so feel free to step away. I'll text you when it's finished and tell you what I fixed.
FAQ 03
What if it can't be fixed remotely?
Then I tell you so and we switch to a house call. Anywhere in Pinellas County I come to you, or I pick the computer up. Remote diagnosis is free, so finding out costs you nothing. No fix, no fee.
FAQ 04
Will you need my passwords?
Not your banking or email passwords — I'll never ask you to read those to me. If a fix needs you to sign in to something, you type it in yourself while I wait. After any virus or scam cleanup I'll recommend changing passwords for important accounts from a clean device.
FAQ 05
Does the support software stay on my computer?
Only if you want it to. When a one-time job is done I remove it, and you can ask me to take it off at any time. If you'd like me to keep the machine patched and watched going forward, that's the managed plan — and then it stays.
FAQ 06
I'm not in Tampa Bay. Can you still help?
Yes — anywhere in the world, as long as your computer is connected to the internet. Remote support has no drive time, so distance doesn't matter: snowbirds back up north, family in another state, customers who've moved away. House calls stay Pinellas County (other Tampa Bay areas by arrangement).
Section G · Get in touch
Text me. Or call.
Remote sessions start with a text or a call — that's on purpose, so you always know you're talking to me. Texting is best: send 727-239-6797 what the computer is doing, and whether it's a Windows PC, Mac, or Linux machine. If it's a remote job, I'll text the link right back.
